By now many of us have a sound knowledge of various good habits, the process of forming these habits, tracking and sustaining these habits ! Majority of this knowledge was developed through self, structured learning and practices over a couple of years. How many of us still diligently practice, actually perform all these which were once impactful habits.
As a part of introduction of every new team of mine, I ask the members to explicitly state what they do other than their regular work.
I do cycling over weekends, sometimes…
I used to do yoga everyday…
I am a trained in carnatic, I used to sing everyday…
I love to write tamil poetry..
When specifically asked, do they do regularly, the answer is a mix of yes and no with no being the majority.
However when we casually start a topic on habits in a social forum, there is a surge of information overdose by all participants talking about their knowledge of yoga, meditation, fitness, dieting, writing et al. Ironically, the fly on every participant’s wall quietly asks “ Seriously ?! are you doing any of these now diligently ?!
How good would this be when put to practice again with a renewed vigor, coupled with an intent to just “do” without falling into paralysis of analysis of how and when.
